Minister of  youth and family

Children Director

Stone Memorial Christian Church, located in Collinsville, VA, within an hour’s drive of
Roanoke, VA, Greensboro, NC, Winston Salem, NC and the Blue Ridge Parkway; invites
interested applicants to apply for the position of Youth Minister, with a Ministry Focus on our
Youth and Families. This position will be responsible for ministry to adolescent aged youth and
their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Train and Recruit Volunteers for efficient implementation of Church Programming
  • Provide Guidance/Counseling to Youth and their Families
  • Help Youth find individualized self-goals and assist in ways to achieve such goals while
    instilling a Personal Relationship with Christ Jesus
  • Plan and administer an array of Youth Programs/Events and Studies that instill the Vision
    and Values of Stone Memorial Christian Church
  • Encourage Growth and Involvement in Youth Studies/Events and Activities by having
    consistent and clear communication with Students, Parents, Church Staff and Leadership
  • Responsible for organizing, creating and compiling effective Sunday School Curriculum
    for his Ministry Focus of Youth
  • Participate and contribute to all Staff and Church Leadership Meetings
  • Guide and encourage Spiritual Growth and Personal Relationships with Christ within
    Students involved in Youth Ministry
  • All Programming and Studies need to have a primary focus on Spiritual Growth and
    instilling a Personal Relationship with Christ Jesus
  • Fosters relationships within Youth Ministry, but has a vision to outreach within the
    community and work on numerical growth and desire to increase attendance within his
    areas of Ministry
  • Create Outreach Programming and Events that encourage Church wide Participation
  • Primarily minister to middle/high school age youth and their families

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Has an evident and proven personal relationship with Christ Jesus
  • Have excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills along with maintaining a
    positive attitude with Youth he is ministering to as well as with Staff, Church
    Leadership and Congregates
  • Excellent computer knowledge/skills and forethought, especially in creating ways of
    technological outputs for aiding in teaching Students to better their relationship with
    Christ Jesus
  • Ability to be relatable to Students in which he is Ministering to
  • Excellent Organizational and Communication skills
  • The ability to Supervise and give clear directions to both students and those whom will
    be serving/volunteering within Ministry Focus
  • Strong Management and Leadership Skills
  • Comfortable and capable of Teaching/Preaching religious messages for his Ministry
    Focus audiences
  • Support and willingness to follow the Vision and Creed of Stone Memorial and its
    Leadership
  • Proficient in Evangelical Studies and the ability to adapt for Youth (adolescent) studies
  • Belief in Baptism by immersion
Compensation:
  • Salary range $37,500 to $44,200 depending on qualifications and experience

Stone Memorial Christian Church in Collinsville, VA seeks to hire a part-time Children Director. The
person in this position will be working with school-aged children (Preschool/Elementary) and their
families.

Qualifications:
  • Must bear witness to a clear testimony of salvation and Biblical baptism. Must profess and live a
    life that reflects personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission of the Stone
    Memorial Christian Church.
  • Possess organizational skills (self-starter, detailed-oriented, able to multi-task, and comfortable
    in delegating responsibilities).
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other technologies such as
    digital cameras, scanners, and computers.
  • Good interpersonal skills with adults and children.
  • High energy, enthusiastic, and creative.
  • Warm and caring personality and demonstrating a willingness to know and love the families at
    Stone Memorial Christian Church.
  • A great passion for God and his children.
  • Must be in good physical shape as the successful candidate will be required to move and setup
    props for lessons, climbing stairs, and keeping up with young children.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of personal information of church members, as appropriate, and
    be able to discuss sensitive subjects on an as needed basis with pastoral and church staff.
  • Be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Must be able to take part in high energy outdoor activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall direction and guidance for ministries targeting children and their parents birth to
    fifth grade.
  • Make and grow disciples of Jesus Christ by leading ministry to children.
  • Recruit, equip, inspire, and train volunteers.
  • Maintain and grow the children’s program through promotion, inviting, and personal
    conversations.
  • Conduct background checks, orientation, and training of all adults who volunteer in the
    children’s program.
  • Direct/plan the annual Vacation Bible School (VBS).
  • Organize the annual Christmas play/choir for the Christmas service.
  • Evaluate new curriculum as needed.
  • Setup/close down worship space and classrooms for children.
  • Prepare/distribute the weekly curriculum for Sunday school, Children’s Church, and Wednesday
    night children meetings.
  • Clerical work (mailing, printing, copying, etc.) for the Children’s ministry.
  • Manage the Children’s Ministry rosters, database, and calendar request.
  • Purchase Children’s Ministry resources, and maintain the organization of the Children’s Ministry
    resource room.
  • Identify, plan, prepare, and purchase supplies needed for Children’s ministry.
  • Adhere to the annual budget for children’s ministry and maintain accurate financial records and
    receipts.
  • Communicate regularly with children and parents regarding calendar, special information,
    expectations, etc.
  • Assist with other responsibilities, as the Senior Minister and Church leadership deems
    necessary.
  • Required to be present during church and ministry services, programs, activities, and events.
  • Must maintain regular church office hours during the week for communication and coordination
    with Senior Minister and church staff.
  • Organize, implement, and oversee special children’s ministry events minimum one per month
    per age group.
  • Collaborate, participate, and promote Christian Service Camp at Camp Pitt during the summer.
  • Handle disciplinary issues as necessary.
  • Support children in their activities outside of church, such as but not limited to visiting schools,
    going to school sports events, etc.
